AGENDA
About Us
Jovenes Biofísicos – The Young Initiative on Biophysics is a nonprofit organization integrated by doctoral and postdoctoral students across Argentina, members of the Argentinian Biophysical Society (SAB). Since 2016, our goal is to present the researcher in training with all the possible tools to grow professionally, as well as to provide spaces for discussion, consultation and networking. Every year, we hold satellite meetings to the annual meeting of the SAB, where we organize workshops, round tables for discussion, contests, among other activities with great support from the young biophysical community.

In 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic we decided to exploit virtual tools. We have organized different activities adapted to each platform. Some of them were adaptations of those made in person, such as “Your project in 2 minutes” and “YIB-talks”. Others were designed exclusively for this format, such as interviews with other young people and researchers, videos with scholarship information, video-tutorials and infographics on topics of interest to biophysics. You can see in detail each activity that we have carried out clicking here.

Mission
Jóvenes Biofísicos – The Young Initiative on Biophysics emerges from the need to give greater visibility to masters, PhDs and postdoc students in the biophysics area and to address scientific issues within the profession. For these purposes, presential and virtual activities, workshops, and round tables are coordinated.
Vision
The Young Initiative on Biophysics is projected as an established and dynamic group advocating for young researchers at the start of their career. It is meant to be a space for meeting, training and horizontal discussion with peers and established scientists.
Goals
âž” Create a dynamic platform for young biophysicists for their professional growth taking into account the needs and problems of the early starts of the scientific career.
âž” Provide young biophysicists with multiple tools to be able to navigate this professional instance in the best possible way.
âž” Develop a space of belonging for young biophysicists encouraging the plurality of voices, fostering the diversity, equity and inclusion.
âž” Highlight the role of young Latin-American scientists in biophysics.
âž” Build a contact network to establish intergroup cooperation to strengthen worldwide biophysics.
âž” Disseminate scientific information relevant to our community.
